The Defense Minister is missing, and China is once again keeping secrets

On August 29th, Li Ke spoke at an event hosted by the China-Africa Peace Forum in Beijing. Since then, there have been no further updates or reports regarding his whereabouts.

At the end of June, the former Chinese Foreign Minister, Chin Gang, was not seen. Exactly one month prior, on July 25th, his successor, Wang Yi, took office. It has now been two weeks and the current Chinese Defense Minister, Li Shangfu, has not been seen either. The speculation surrounding his absence is intense, and many are wondering if he has been removed from his position.

On August 29th, during an event at the China-Africa Peace Forum, Li spoke publicly for the last time. Since then, there has been no news of him. This, coupled with the recent removal of two top officials from the rocket division of the Chinese military, has led to much speculation about what is happening behind the scenes.

On September 9th, President Xi Jinping issued a message to the military emphasizing unity and cohesion. Some believe that this message is part of a larger campaign to root out corruption within the military. Over the past five years, there have been numerous reports of corruption and information leaks within the military, and it seems that these issues are finally being addressed.

Li has been a member of the military since 1982 and was appointed Defense Minister in March of this year. His sudden disappearance has raised many questions about the state of the military and the governmentโ€™s efforts to combat corruption.

As Agatha Christie once wrote, โ€œAnd Then There Were None.โ€ The situation in China seems to be following a similar pattern, with high-ranking officials disappearing one by one. The search for Li Shangfu continues, and many are wondering what other surprises are in store.
